MIMI AND THE GOLDEN TOUCH by Vahan Salorian

COMPANY English Touring Opera
LIBRETTIST Malaika Kegode
COMPOSER Vahan Salorian
DIRECTOR Lucy Bradley

Alexandra will be playing the role of “Mimi”.

Mimi is lonely.

Everyone at her school has something unique that expresses who they are: soft lemur tails or beautiful golden wings. Everyone, that is, apart from Mimi. Until one day, she befriends a boy called Sonni and the most incredible thing happens... she sprouts donkey ears!

Overjoyed with her new friend, Mimi sets off on a quest around the school to become as cool as she can. But as she's drawn into all things shiny, is being popular all it seems?

Co-created with students at Briarwood School in Bristol, Mimi and the Golden Touch is a retelling of the Greek myth of King Midas, exploring friendship, belonging and the power of being oneself. Written by Malaika Kegode (The Colour of Dinosaurs), composed by Vaha Salorian, directed by Lucy Bradley and designed by Sascha Gilmour, Mimi and the Golden Touch will tour SEND schools and libraries this Autumn.
